Your engagement session is such a great time to get dressed up and feel glamorous, get comfortable in front of my camera, and have FUN! I love romantic, cuddly, and giggly photographs so just pretend you’re on a date. We will begin about 1.5 hours before sunset when the light is most flattering and warm. Your session will take around 2 hours.
I suggest scheduling the session as soon as you book! Even if we just pencil in a date it helps ensure you get your first choice of season, date, time, etc. I usually suggest spring because it’s my absolute favorite season, but fall is nice too. If you are having a wedding in one of these seasons, then it’s nice to complement your wedding photos by picking a different season.
Think about the outfits you want to wear and a location that compliments that vision. Maybe you want the city vibe, or maybe you want a classic place with strong architecture. I always encourage my clients to pick a place that has a little bit of green (gardens) with elegant architecture. You want to mix it up a little. Another tip is to think of an activity you like to do together. Maybe pop a little bubbly, rent mopeds, or get a classic vintage car? Get creative!
We can ALWAYS reschedule! I would always rather have the perfect conditions for photos.
You need to have your make up professionally done by the same makeup artist for your wedding day. This is the perfect day for a trial. Do not skip on the fake lashes. They make a huge difference in pictures. If you need recommendations for makeup artists, please contact me. You deserve to be pampered, so why not get your hair done too?
This is the perfect opportunity for us to work together before the wedding day. We get to know each other, which means no awkwardness on the wedding day (YAY!). My goal is for you to be comfortable in front of the camera. Having this session is a perfect way to do that.
It’s not everyday you get professional photographs taken together, so I always recommend that my couples dress up. You’ll feel fantastic and get even better images because you’ll be more confident in front of the camera. Gowns and suits also photograph beautifully.
When choosing what to wear, remember that flowing soft fabrics and soft colors like dusty blue, cream, taupe, and gold (not super white) photograph beautifully. But don't be afraid of a little color! Feel free to bring options and I can help style you when you arrive. Don't forget the sexy heels! Just like the wedding day, please bring flats so we can get around comfortably.
